Red Hook, Copper Hook is known as spring ale, but to be honest it fails to fit the puzzle as it is much more of pale ale (American). Red Hook might actually call it spring ale, because it only sells copper hook in the spring. But I digress; this cheap brew pours a clear orange color, with very little head. No lacing to speak of and meek carbonation. The aroma kicks up a earthy malt all the way through, trailed by kind of a sweet brown sugar and oats smell. There wasn’t any sign of hops in the smell, and very little in the flavor. A very malty experience, but also coupled with a flat bland after taste. This concoction goes down easy not smooth but very light and almost no bitter tang at the end. Copper Hook is extremely easy to drink, on the same level as miller light but with quite a different taste. All and all this brew trudges out a 4 out of 10 star of Ass Kickery for its lack of taste. But regardless this beer has a 5.7 ABV and very reasonably priced. So if you’re low on dough drink away.
