I'd like to have some people come out and visit a few spots by my place.

The Bavarian Lodge (the beer list is huge and the food is good German fare)

Ballydoyle

Frankie's Blue Room

Maple Ave Pub

The Finley Grill Room

I'll add some more as I think of them.  Anyone up for it?

Yeah if I remember correctly, their beer list is probably twice as long any place we've reviewed yet.  I'd also like to hit up JT's Porch in Lombard.  It's got a semi-saloon motif, but it doesn't look like there are any decent bands playing there this month.  It's got a diverse crowd and they've got a cheesy crab dip there that's worth a chew.

I'd also like to start hitting up some microbreweries and Emmett's is not far down the road from Ballydoyle--another place I'd like to share with you guys.  There's a couple of other neat spots in Downers Grove.  What do you guys think about just tearing through Main Street in an evening, hitting all of them?  Might need to make some notes for the sake of reviewing, but it would be a fun night.

Yes i have been told of the bavarian lodge many times. JT's porch is something to aim for aon a UFC fight night, at least so that if it sucks i will still be entertained. Best option soon enough would be to get to the Lasalle Power Company since its only been open for about 2-3 weeks. Large 3 floor building, use to be a Lalo's mexican resturant.

I'll go ahead and toss out Rookies in St. Charles as a sports bar you should probably check out.  Probably best to hit it during a big game, so either this next couple weeks with the NHL/NBA play offs or wait till October for the Baseball post season.

Fresh from one of our twitter followers, an employee of:

http://www.mickeyfinnsbrewery.com/

Whatchall think? There's an 80s cover band playing there on Sat. June 6th. How about finding a place nearby to hit in the earlier hours. It's in Libertyville which is kinda far, but it's time to expand the stomping grounds.

Also Kuma's Corner @ http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=off&num=100&ei=ftAdSs6zHKWgM6Seme4F&resnum=0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=kuma%27s+corner+menu&near=Lisle,+IL&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&cid=0,0,14592344517189361777&ei=gNAdSrKSOpfMMdPr2e8F&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=5

I've heard over and over that their burger menu is insane. It's supposed to be packed at all hours and for good reason.

Franky's Blue Room is supposed to be pretty nice. Never been, but we should definitely check that out soon, and maybe on a weeknight when I'm NOT working.

You know it, Ed. You usually go up the stairs and pay something like a $7 cover and they're only open when they have a live band, as far as I know. And it's usually pretty good. Let's do that one when my friend's band is playing, because they're pretty good. Plus, I'd bet that they would announce us being there if even just for kicks.

The Maproom is an excellent place to visit. Went there with a group of friends about 15 of us, called the manager and told them we where coming and they treated us to every 3rd round was on the house along with a some food for us in their back room.

Another great place to try is Finnegans in Plainfield. They just opened in March, they where formally O'Sullivans in a diffrent locale. Small cozy place in downtown plainfield with a nice tap and bottle selection (its getting bigger every week). They make it a point to offer specialty drafts from the local brewers. All wait staff is knowledgable in all the beer they serve, they take a beer class every week. Proper glassware and good freindly service. Food is good too.

Frankly, I'd love to throw a dot up on the map by Plainfield. I used to live in the general area but somehow managed to avoid going into the actual township. It'd be cool to see what I'd been missing.
